I just don't know how I want to record for myself all the stuff I did over this past weekend. I had a great and wonderful time and spent most of it with my Oldest daughter. All my kids are so good to me but especially my oldest. Well my friends that I'm staying with here packed up and left for Kingston and Toronto early Saturday morning. They were off to move their younger daughter from University in Kingston to Toronto. She will be doing her clinical placement to complete her Nursing degree from Queens University. That left me with peace and quiet for the day. I really needed to rest and regroup myself. 6pm my daughter arrived to pick me up and take me over to her place in Ottawa. What follows was a crazy fun very late night with her and her friends. First we ate some dinner. They she started preparing for a party and I just tried to help and dealt with my constantly low sugars. Some friends started arriving around 7 and the music and videos began to blare. We all played a really fun bizarre game which generated mega laughs and lots and lots of fun. That eventually switch to watching a lot of foreign videos on uTube which again created so much more fun and laughs. The kids, about 7 of them (22-27yrs old)and me, dear OLD mom (53yrs)I don't know about other cities but in Ottawa you don't head out to the bars until about 10pm or later. They close down at 2am. Everyone was finally ready around 10:30 and a cab was called. Down to market we headed. These girls and a couple of guys drink lots and lots of shooters during the night. Some things just never really change. Back in the day we also drank shooters as well. No me any more even though the bought a few before I convinced them I could not drink them. There was always a willing person to drink them. I'm just too old and too sick with Diabetes to go down that type of like I once use to about 30 some odd years ago. I had very little alcohol and did take some tokes of really good weed so I was set for the evening before we left the Apt. We went to a bar called 'The Lookout' in the Market. It is a well known Ottawa Gay Bar that I had frequented about 10 years ago. My daughter and two of her girlfriends are straight, myself and the other girl are lesbians and the two boys are gay. My daughter and her friends frequent this particular bar because the love the atmosphere, never worry about being 'hit on', dance crazily and also watch the Transvestite shows when they are on stage. This place is a very very liberal crazy bar that is not big and on the 2nd floor of a very old Ottawa Heritage building. A very classy restaurant is below it. My daughters boss and several of her friends perform in the shows and her boss won the Miss Pride last year during the Ottawa Pride Festival. Even I danced up a storm while balanced up against a small table against the wall. First time I've been able to dance in many years. I danced with the friends and had an absolute scream dancing up a storm with my daughter. I discovered the kid dances really well. So neat seeing all of these things in her - so very many friends and how wonderfully she treats all her friends and the diversity of her friends. Such an incredible thing for me to be able to witness her in her environment....Amazing is how I describe my feelings that night.
Well by 2am I was starting to fade so she and I and one of her friends hoped a cab home. What I miss about the Market streets is that it's still full of people young and old roaming around at that time of the morning. It's all just so nice and lovely on a clear warm night. Once back at the Apt. the girls were hungry and ordered a pizza. I went to my blog and did some typing. So it was after 3am before all the lights were out and sleep overcame us all.
Sunday morning I heard my daughter leave for work around 6am then I heard her return. What I didn't realize was that it was 1:30pm when I really woke up for good. My poor sweet girl was suffering and took the afternoon off. Her hangover was worse than bad she said. She curled up on the couch and slept while I did up all the dishes and mess of the night before. I really felt bad for her as I had to wake her up just before 3pm to head out to visit my 87yr old Aunt and 3 of 4 cousins. I promised my ill daughter we wouldn't stay long but when we got there my Aunt had made dinner and was waiting for her kids to arrive. Needless to say I could not leave but sent my Daughter home for a few hours to rest. It really was a great treat to see my cousins again and there was NO lack of good conversations going on. I'm the baby of the brood at 53 and it goes up to 60 so none of us are spring chicks anymore. Actually, my cousin Marg who is 55 has recently become a first time Grandma and my Aunt at Great Aunt. Certainly made for interesting conversation as this is the first great grandchild of the 10 grandchildren. Really kinda freaky but so good.
I called my daughter to come get me about 5:30 and she took me back Aylmer so she could get back home before 7pm and just chill for the evening.
WOW WOW WOW sums up my experiences over the last weekend of my Vacation. There's still much more to come before heading home Friday morning......
